  • Hi! I think my problem with the mic is due to software. If I have the speaker on then people hear me just fine during phonecalls, if it’s off then they barely hear me. They say it’s like I’m speaking really low.
Also after there was an automatic software update from Samsung the camera takes forever to focus.
I have a Korean Samsung Galaxy S4 SHV-E300L (bought in Seoul). I’m so regretting having changed my S2 that still worked perfectly 🙁
Do you have any suggestions? I’d be most grateful!!!

    • Irina, I am sorry to say but it seems that your phone is not original, almost all the copied versions of the original phone encounters such problem. And it is not a software, but more of a hardware issue, as none of the parts used in your phone are original. However it could also be software plus hardware issue. Irina, it would be a bad idea if you are planning to get it fixed, because it will be of no avail to you. I recommend that you should change your device, as there is no solution for that. Though just to make sure, get a free checkup of your phone from your nearest repair guy. `though it is highly unlikely that it would be within economical repair.

  • Had the same problem and after allot of drama realised its the easiest fix ever.

make a call then look at you phone screen, there is an option for noise reduction uncheck it and hey presto you will be good to go!!!

    • Lol. Good to hear that you fixed your S4. And thanks for the tip that you gave to the people having similar problems.

  • It seems my mic has a software problem. I cleaned the hole, even replaced the mic, flashed a different software… sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. It varies daily. It works for example in the morning and by the noon its gone. It recieves some kind of interferences like when youre tuning the analog radio. Any help?

    • It appears that your phone has encountered some sort of water damage. Gently heat microphone IC and check, if it still doesn’t work the replace it.

  • Pat McGarry

This solution worked for me as well. Cleaned the mic opening and everything was back to normal. Thank you very much, this saved me a major headache.

  • This is literally my 3rd Samsung Galaxy S4, I always have the Same problem! I hope your methods work!

    • 3rd one? Aren’t you claiming Warranty for your phone? Ask Samsung and get this thing replaced! Please only follow my Manual Solution and don’t go into hardware, let Samsung cover you the entire thing.

  • Thanks for that solution. My microphone stopped working today. A quick check and I saw your solution. All I needed to do was clear the microphone hole and presto.. mic now working again.

  • John Conners
