How to Resolve Different Samsung Galaxy S3 Camera Problems?

Warning Unknown Error by Error Callback

If you encounter this error message “Warning Unknown Error by Error Callback” then all you have to do is to go into “Settings” and from there to “Application Manager”. Then from there scroll down to Camera option and select “Clear Data and Force Stop” option. This thing would surely work if your data is causing the issue, and if it doesn’t then:

  • Turn off the device
  •  Press and Hold, Volume (Up Key), Home Key and Power Key at the same time until the phone     starts to vibrate.
  • Now press Volume down key to move over “Wipe Cache Partition” option. After moving over this option press Power button to select it.
  •  After your Cache is wiped out you will see “Reboot System now” option in front of your screen, press power key to select this option.

This thing is surely going to solve this issue for sure.

Camera Failed Error Message

If you see “Camera Failed” error message on your screen or it shows black screen, than following four methods might be able to assist you with this issue, which include:

  • There might be some problem with your memory card, try to format it in first place. (Make sure to backup your data first before you do that)
  • Go with a new Firmware update.
  • Disable “Location” option in your Samsung Galaxy S3, as sometimes it is also the cause of the issue.
  • If all of the above doesn’t work than the last option is to go with Factory Reset option, it is surely going to solve every problem if it is a software issue OR you can also choose to “Stop” the camera by going into your Samsung Galaxy S3 options, this is surely going to resolve all your camera related issues.     • Hi Karen. Following are the things that you can do in this regard:
      1. Camera might be faulty, so in this case you need to change the camera.
      2. Remove case of your S3 and unplug, clean and replug the camera connector and check. Make sure to blow dry connector and plug the camera connector and check.
      3. If the above doesn’t solve the problem then gently heat camera IC of your S3 and check, this should do the job.

      If point 2 nd 3 don’t work then you need to get a new camera.

    • It is clear that your phone is water damaged. I recommend that you should remove the body of your phone and find all the traces of water damage then clean all of them with the help of a cloth. Besides that also use a common blow dryer for few seconds on your phone board and camera as well Refix your phone and check. This thing will be able to solve your problem. In case it didn’t work then it means your camera is damaged and you need to change that. However I also need to ask, did you checked your phone’s front camera?

    • Did you wipe out cache partition for ErrorCallBack problem? If no then do that. For Camera failed error message please check the section of Camera failed error message section. If it still gives the same problem then change your phone’s camera, as you don’t have any other option than this.

When I bought it ,my back camera is blurred i adjusted the focus setting from macro focus to auto focus, but still it is in the macro focus although I already change its focus.     • The very first thing that you should do is to remove the back case of your S3 mini and clean rear camera from inside with the help of a cotton bud, make sure that you are very gentle during this process. Due to dust or dirt on the screen the phone’s camera changes its focus from time to time as it is actually focusing on the object (dirt). If that fails then open your camera and focus different objects from different distance, this will allow your phone’s focus to be active, If nothing happens then you might need to change your phone’s camera.

  • I have recently received a new SG3 aa a replacement for an older SG3 that apparently Samsung deemed needing replaced. Anyways, this new phones camera flash doesn’t work. Ive tried just about everything. Turn flash on then off then on….restarting. You name it. Any thoughts?

  • Hi please help, when ever I put on my Samsung galaxy s3 front camera to take a picture, the option to switch to back camera does not come on and it used to come on before. But when I switch it to video mode then I can switch to back camera and then switch to picture mode. But before now, in picture mode I could switch between front and back camera. Thanks.

    • daniel are you using some third party app for pictures and images, as such type of problem arises due to that as well. I recommend you to uninstall that app, restart your phone and check again.

      • pls help me out,my s3’s camera was working but suddenly stopped ,whenever i enter camera or camera related apps it flashes light and turns off .Also when turning the phone on it always flashes light before it turns on .

        • Update your phone and check, if that doesn’t work for you then remove any third party camera related app from your phone and check. If you are still encounter same problem then clear the cache of your phone and check.

    • Não, você não pode limpar isso. Eu recomendo que você desligue, câmera S3 limpo e reconectar e verificar (limpar tanto conector tira câmera e conector on-board). Se mesmo problema mudar a sua câmera.
      Primeiro me diga que as duas câmeras (frontal e traseira) dar-lhe mesmo problema? Se ambos câmara dar mesmo problema, então solução é diferente.

    I’m having S3 (SHV E210L) phone with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Today suddenly, when I turn on back camera with flash, phone got stuck. so I need to remove battery to restart. still the problem is there.But without flash it is working properly. Even I try to correct using following path –> application manager—> “ALL” find “Camera” then press where it says clear data. But still problem is there.

    • This might be the problem in your Camera’s flash. You need to change the Coil of Flash. Besides that, I also recommend you to upgrade your OS, this might also get the job done right for you.

    My camera has worked fine for quite some time. Then one day it stopped working. When i went to a music festival i only used my fone for the camera. Then it stopped again then worked for the birth of my new son, stopped and then itermittently has worked since then. Now it doesnt work AT ALL. It just shows a black screen but cant do anything. It worked once when i updated the fone and then stopped again and other ways i got it to work was to take the back off the fone and sometimes take the battery out but now nothing works for it. I accidently cracked the screen after just two months while it was in my pocket but have had the fone for 14 months and it still works and the camera worked as well. Not too sure on taking fone apart as will this not invalidate warranty and is it still covered by warranty? Last time i took it in to get it looked at they said that the cracked screen may have caused the problem yet it still worked for a long time after that and cannot afford £140 to replace the screen. Help me.

    • Sean it doesn’t seems that your cracked screen is causing this problem, and as you said that a simple software update did the job for you then it appears to be a software issue rather than a hardware one. I recommend you to clear cache of your phone and check, as most of the time cache is the main cause of this problem. If that doesn’t work then format your SD card and check. I hope this solves the problem for you.

    • The first thing that you need to do is to completely “Zoom In” and “Zoom Out” in order to know whether it is just the dust issue or your camera is faulty. If this is not the case then remove body of your phone, clean the lens with the help of a cotton cloth or cotton bud and check, as this thing happens because of the dust over camera lens. I hope this thing resolves the problem.

    • Disassemble your S3 phone and locate your camera, Camera strip is connected with your camera, and then follow the procedure. I hope you will be able to find it

  • Any app that uses the camera function just simply doesn’t work and neither does the camera app itself. When I click on it, it takes me to the screen that you get when you’re taking a pic with the flash options and self facing etc but nothing I click on responds. My snapchat app recieves snaps people send me but wont take a snap and the same for instagram and facebook and whatsapp! Ive tried everything you’ve said 2 or three times over the last 48 hours also tried resting the phone wiggling the camera , deleting loads of apps and stopping all the others. It doesnt flash up a msg or anything it just aimply doesn’t respond and I have to click to home button to escape?

    • Clear the Cache of your phone and check, as normally this thing resolves such type of issue. Besides that, i also recommend that you should remove your Memory Card and place any other working one in order to verify whether MMC is the cause of this problem or not. Also connect your phone to PC and scan your phone data with the help of an anti-virus program. Try these three methods and check it after every step. I hope it resolves your problem.

    • Update your OS and check, and did you installed any of the camera apps recently after which this problem has raised? As in 80% cases, a third party / old camera app is the cause of such problem. If this is not the case then wipe cache of your phone and check, this is surely going to solve your problem. But make sure to take backup first.

  • All coments about camera faild are wrong. Just root your phone and remove best shot and and camera restored

    • Sergey it was more about solving the issues via hardware method. And Comments over this posts are the problems that people are facing, I don’t have any control over that. And the solution you have mentioned is just a workaround for a single issue, not a universal solution.

    I really hope you can help. I have a S3 and it use to take such stunning clear pics. Now when I take pics its fuzzy and it doesnt focus unless I am up close to the object. I have reset my camera and removed my battery to reset. But it does not help. I take pics in the moment of my kids and this is really killing the moment! Thanx

    • It is a clear case of camera issue. Remove body and clean your S3 rear camera, and check. Unplug, Clean and re-plug on-board connector of your rear camera and check. If it still fails to perform then buy a new rear camera for your S3.

  • Its unknown error by error callback by the way. Camera issue. Ive tried loading some camera apps but that dont work either. Its irratating coz the phone got a top camera n i cant use it

    • Well you don’t need to add any of the camera apps, they won’t do any good to you. Just wipe out your cache partition and reboot your phone, this thing will surely solve your problem, else you have to upgrade your OS, as it is a software problem and has nothing to do with hardware.

    • Go with a new Firware Update and check. If that doesn’t work then wipe cache and check. Well for charging problem, clean your charging connector and check. i am afraid that there are a good number of hardware issues involved, and you need to get this repair from a repair center.

    I have a Galaxy S3 from Rogers. My camera works great except that when my battery reaches about 50% or less, taking a picture kills the phone. I have to remove the battery and reinsert it for the phone to turn back on. The picture didn’t take and until I recharge the battery, I can’t other pictures without killing the phone again. Sometimes it happens when the battery is above 50%. I thought it was the battery so I bought a new one and the same thing happens with the new battery. My warranty is now over… What do you recommend?

    • Hi Zubayrul hasan; thanks for your comment. Well you need to change your image setting, just go to the camera setting and turn negative mode to normal mode. I hope it will work and the rest of the images you will receive will be in normal mode. If it won’t work you need to change image settings from the sender’s mobile, this is not a hardware problem, if nothing of this work; take backup of your mobile phone and hard reset your mobile so the setting will be restored as default.

  • hi! i hope you could help me solving my issues. I just got this s3 a few days ago and I upload my song covers on facebook. i tried to use the camera app and record but when i play it back,it is lagging and sometimes a message pops out saying “sorry, this video cannot be played.” i thought that it’s not that intimidating so i recorded another video which only takes 2mins and a half and there’s another lag. i downloaded vlc into my device and it starts working. BUT the problem is, when i uploaded my video on facebook, the part that has lagged begins to have no audio. the video still plays but there is no audio. please help 🙁

    • Hello AprilDee; I read your comment and this problem seems like a software problem, you need to backup your all data and Hard reset your Galaxy S3, I hope it will work. Cheer

  • THERE IS A FIX TO THE “CAMERA FAILED” error message. This is not a software issue. At least for me it wasnt. I believe this comes down to a bad connection or something is grounding out on the motherboard that is not supposed to.

    THE FIX:
    Turn the phone over remove the battery cover and look for the screw on the top left. Remove screw and try camera. You can leave the battery in and the phone on during this so you can check immediately to see if this resolved the problem. If that screw is not the cause try different screws.

    • You are welcome Alam. Before buying a new S3 camera I recommend that you should check this problem with any used camera first. If possible try to burrow S3 camera from your friend’s S3, and check. If it is giving perfect result then buy a new camera for your phone, else the problem is something different.

    • Alam there are a lot of things that might have happened at this point, as it was an Authentic Samsung Service Center i don’t think they have done anything like that. Give a hard reset to your S3 and Check. If that doesn’t works for you then open your S3, unplug your S3 rear camera and clean the terminals of that camera and plug it again and check. If the problem persist then check with any other good working camera of Samsung Galaxy S3, and the best thing is that you don’t need to be a professional to get this thing done, as it is quite simple. But use all the standard tools and be gentle, don’t apply pressure at any point when plugging or unplugging. Do update me about it, thanks.

    • Yes may be, but before taking it to samsung, do one thing: Open your Samsung galaxy S3 and clean on board terminals of Samsung Galaxy S3 camera (after disconnecting camera cable connector), as sometimes it is also the cause of problem. It might work for you. Best of luck with your S3!

  • Hi. I have tried everything that u have mentioned. I even got someone to change the camera. Same thing. I noticed after the update i have two cameras in the apps. One is camera and the other is bestface. its kinda annoying. I did show to few people n they got no idea.. is there a way to go back to previous version. Thanks

    • Well you don’t need to change your camera, as your camera was working well after you got your LCD replaced. As you have already replaced it, then it means that your camera is in good condition.
      Anyways what is the time duration between your LCD replacement and Software update?
      And did you installed any other camera related app before going with update? If yes, then uninstall it and restart your cellular phone and check. And no there is no way to go back to the previous version.

  • Camera Failed!
    Okay, so I kept getting this when attempting to open my camera. I would dismound my sd card and reinsert and the camera would work for that particular opening. But once closed and opened again the same issue would arise. So I took the sd card completely out. Same. I cleared cache, rebooted. Actually froze my phone on the start up “samsung” screen. Had to hit power buttom, volume up, and home button to get the phone to respond @ all. So I ended up doing a factory reset. And the camera still failed. Any ideas? Still under warranty..should I get a new through my provider?

    • If it is under warranty then that’s surely the first thing that you should do. As you have already restarted your phone, cleared Cache and even did factory reset, then there is nothing else you can do manually and in my opinion it’s a hardware glitch.

    • Yes Mido, your MMC/SD card might be corrupt or it may have a virus in it. Just format it and Check, it might solve the issue. Those images in which you can see “Broken Image logo” can be transferred into your PC, you can see them there but I know that’s not a solution (it’s just that you won’t lose pictures).
      In my opinion none of the antiviruses are good enough to protect your phone, believe me or not almost all of them function in a similar way. What you need now is a private proxy or a proxy switcher / IP Changing software, as it will protect you from viruses that you encounter over the internet.
      So what you need to do is:
      1. Get a Private proxy / IP Changing Software / Proxy Switcher for internet browsing.
      2. Avoid connecting your Phone to any PC that doesn’t have any licensed Antivirus program.

  • thanxxxx…..ur solution about the “”camera failed”” worked foen ever i me …i was sitting on a table and while taking my s3 out from the pocket it sliped and fell on a floor made of marbel…..

    since then i was not able to acces the camera as when ever i pressed the camera app it opened and a message ws displayed “camera failed”…

    i ejected the sd card out and then checked my camera and guess what it was working…looooolz…..

  • I did the software manual solution, the first time I did it back in July it was instant! At the moment im in Bali and it didnt happen right away.The camera started working the next night.Im happy either way haha, I love my camera! Thanks again.

  • I have had this problem twice now after
    an automatic update by the playstore.Both times your solutions have worked
    ….but it did take a day or 2 for the camera too work again.
    All auto updates are now turned off!!

    • Sound’s great! But I don’t know why it took that long, as it is an instant solution. Anyways did you tried software / manual solution or the hardware one?

  • I had ‘Unknown error by ErrorCallback’ and none of those solutions worked for me. I don’t know if this would work for everyone, but for me it did:
    Open up the S3, disconnect the camera, quickly clean the connectors and put everything back together. That fixed it for me, good luck. There must have been some issue with the connector.
