We all know how much we love Apple products especially iPhone and this is mainly because it is known to be one of the most distinctive Smartphone launched by any of the companies. IPhone is surely an innovation in this industry which progressed by leaps and bounds as the time passed.

Every year Apple launches a new generation of iPhone which is bigger and better than its predecessor, and this is mainly because after every successful launch people expect more innovative and high-end features in the next generation of iPhone, and this is one of the reasons why iPhone is sold in millions every year even due to their outrageous prices.

Introduction

The Founder and CEO of Apple Inc, Steve Jobs envisioned the idea of creating such a device that uses multi-touch screen to interact with computer via which a person would be able to type and move pointer simply by touching and typing over the screen, hence eliminating the need of keyboard and mouse. At first the idea was only a little but different than a tablet computer, but later when he reviewed the prototype and the user interface of that device, he got a second idea in which he envisioned this technology to be implemented in mobile devices. At this point Steve Job really knew what he wants and the project was started in the year 2005 with the name of Project Purple 2.

The Very First iPhone (iPhone 2G)

Apple Inc. launched its very first iPhone on 29th June 2007, which was named as iPhone 2G. iPhone 2G was not the one that was launched within months of speculation, it had been rumored for years before it was actually launched in the market, and this is one of the reasons why Apple was able to sell 6.1 million iPhone 2G.

IPhone 3G

IPhone 3G was launched on 11th June 2008. Internally it was similar to iPhone 2G, but it had several hardware boosts, and also equipped with some of the most distinctive features like assisted GPS system and 3G data along with others. Besides that, iPhone 3G also came up with the all new and the most updated iOS 2.0 version. Besides everything else, this was also the time when Apple Inc. launched its App store, hence allowing other third party developers to contribute and make most of this offered platform.

Besides that, iPhone 3G also offered its 16GB in Black as well as White Color.

IPhone 3GS

The third generation of iPhone is known as iPhone 3GS which was launched in 8th June 2009. This is the only iPhone that was manufactured till 12th September 2012. Other than features, this time Apple also worked on iPhone’s specs, and completely updated it as compared to its predecessor. Just like iPhone 3G, 3GS also made over 1 million sales in its first week, hence becoming another untimely success by Apple Inc.

IPhone 4

Apple brought new design features and more powerful Specs in their 4th generation of iPhone. IPhone 4 was launched on 24th June 2010. The design was changed massively and so as the features. Besides that, iPhone 4 is also the first one that offers CDMA network. This phone received a good positive response from its critics, who praised its new design as well as features. The selling rate of iPhone 4 is quite remarkable, and it sold out at a much faster pace than its predecessors, as 1.7 Million units were sold only in the first three days!

IPhone 4S

The announcement date of iPhone 4S was accompanied with the death of Co-founder and CEO of Apple Inc. Steve Jobs (4S was announced on 4th October 2011, Jobs died on 5th October). The death of the Co-Founder and CEO of the company was a big blow to it, however this didn’t stopped company to progress and make huge sales.

IPhone 4S was made available for the public on 14th October with the slogan of “The Most Amazing iPhone yet”. This phone came out as a disappointment for most of the people, as people were expecting iPhone 5 instead of iPhone 4. But this thing didn’t stopped Apple to make massive sales over their new phone, as yet alone 4 million handsets were sold in the first three days which was surely more than double of iPhone 4 sales. The most noted feature that was introduced in iPhone 4S was its introduction of Siri and better processing speed than its predecessor.

IPhone 5

With the increasing demand of bigger screen smart phones, Apple Inc. finally decided to increase the screen size of their phone, although it was not needed much. IPhone 5 was launched on 21st September 2012 and came up with 4 inches of screen size, which was largely criticized by the people, as it took out the charm from iPhone 5. But this thing didn’t stopped Apple to make its sales as alone 2 Million handsets were sold in the first 24 hours of Pre-Order sales while 5 Million iPhone 5 were sold alone on the first 3 days.

IPhone 5C

IPhone 5C came out as one of the biggest surprises of 2013, as none was expecting its outcome. IPhone 5C was launched on the same date as of iPhone 5S which is 20th September 2013. IPhone 5C was the very first colorful series introduced by Apple Inc.

IPhone 5C came out as disappointment for most of the people, as they were expecting this phone to be a “budget phone”, which it was not, however its price was a bit lower than iPhone 5S. This phone comprises almost similar hardware as of its predecessor, and after its launch iPhone 5 was discontinued from the market.

IPhone 5C didn’t become much of a success as compared to its predecessors, and this is one of the reasons why Apple limited the production of this phone. Besides that, it only came with either 16GB or 32GB storage.

IPhone 5S

IPhone 5S is regarded as the best Smartphone that is currently in the market these days, due to its upgraded hardware and extended features. IPhone 5S was launched on 20th September 2013 along with the previously discussed iPhone 5C, and Apple was able to sell more than 9 Million Handsets in first 3 days (cumulative numbers of iPhone 5S and 5C), however 5S beat 5C by 2 to 1 in its sales.

Apple’s iPhone is surely regarded as one of the biggest innovation in the Smart phone industry and till now none of the Smart Phones have matched its standards. Steve Jobs has surely created a legacy which the Apple Inc is following. With every new launch, Apple is witnessing more and more sales of their iPhone’s, as people are expecting more and more from Apple over their every iPhone launch, and till now Apple is fulfilling all of their needs.
